The Lester name is rooted three generations deep in the Bryan College Station area. Lance Lester is well known for founding a commercial water well drilling company, the creation of a water rights co-op, and his construction and real estate experience. Today Lance is most known for being the owner and broker of The Lester Group. However, many people are not aware of Lance’s participation in equestrian competitions as a child.
Once a cowboy, always a cowboy we like to say. In the spirit of rodeo season, here’s a flash back to the good ol’ days!
Lance was featured in the NFL 1991 Edition of Sports Illustrated.
At only 12-years-old, Lance Lester “became the youngest competitor to win a National Cutting Horse Association title in the 5- and 6-year-old horse category.”
These young champions receive belts and trophies for their success in cutting horses.
The heritage of horse cutting goes back to the early 1800’s. American cowboys used their best fit horses to separate cows from a herd as a daily job. Who knew it would become one of the most popular equine sports today. This equestrian competition consists of a horse and a rider demonstrating the horses athleticism and ability to handle cattle in front of a panel of judges.

Today, Lance, his wife, Chelsea, and their two children enjoy visiting the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo each year. The kids love the attire!
As the 2018 rodeo season is coming to a close, here at TLG, we are enjoying looking back on Lance’s childhood experience in equine sports. Lance Lester is a great person, a knowledgable leader, a great pillar in the Brazos Valley community, and a true cowboy at heart! We are so proud to call him our Team Leader and enjoy learning more about him every day.
